In a continuation of my randomness today, as i was cooking my dinner just now, i realised that one of the most humiliating acts a cook can possibly endure is that of people not finishing the food you've prepared for them. It totally destroys the cook's self-esteem and personally, i would perceive it as an insult; a low blow of sorts.
I'm saying this not because people has rejected my food, but because of an incident at the coffeeshop outside college(don't ask why i was there for those who don't know, which is like everyone except kelvin). So anyhow, i didn't finish the mee pok i ordered because it was really awful and as the uncle came to clear the bowl, he was like "Eh why don't you finish the last two fishballs" and i muttered something incoherent along the lines of "i've got no appetite" which was partly true.
Though i didn't think much of it then, but in hindsight, i realised something in the tone of the uncle, as he said those words to me, conveyed a sense of sadness and rejection, and right now, i feel so bad because he must have been feeling quite upset that i didn't like his food or something.
So I'm truly sorry Uncle, if you're reading this somehow, but i didn't mean to insult you! Though i must say in all fairness, the mee pok was really rubbish, its only saving grace coming from the fact that it was only 2 bucks haha.
Next time guys, don't reject food openly unless its really bad and you can't stand the chef or something. Oh, but please don't eat the mee pok near school unless you're dying of hunger. Eat the roti prata or chicken rice if you must.
